Children are Spiritual Experiences

(Picture thanks to Megan Brown)

I had an epiphany as I was up with Tyson in the early hours...really the middle of the night. I had just finished feeding him and he was simply staring at me. I said to him, "Tyson, these are moments that only we get to experience, just you and me." How precious are the moments when he is in my arms.
I listen to the BYU-TV station because I get really tired of TV sitcoms. I was thinking about blogging this picture and relating a few thoughts. As I was pondering and gazing at my new little one, I heard the speaker say: "Children are spiritual experiences." I was literally just thinking that same thought. Tyson at this point had become a little fussy, but still the thought of this spiritual experience rang in my mind.
There is a point just as my little Bear is falling asleep that I can see and feel Heaven in his face. He has these "drunk eyes" as he is dozing off...then he always gives these huge smiles. It is my piece of Heaven and only he and I get to experience. It is in that moment that I realize how blessed I am.
If a mother ever wonders why she does not have the same spiritual experiences she had as a missionary or before...she needs to realize that in her arms is her spiritual experience.

Tyson Bear Brown

Tyson Bear Brown was born on Jan 4, 2011 at 20:11 (8:11pm), 7.5 lbs, 21 inches long. He is so wonderful. He sleeps, eats, and poops. just like a baby should. It is such a joy to have this little man in our lives. We are so blessed to have this little man in our home. He is a little piece of heaven that we have so patiently awaited.

A little about the delivery:
I chose to deliver naturally. It was beautiful. Everything went as planned. I had the best support team in the room with me. I can't believe how amazing women's bodies are and that they truly know how to work to deliver a baby. Tyson and I worked for 24 hours. I can honestly say that I was never in pain. I was calm, relaxed, and rhythmic. With the help of my sister I breathed through every contraction.
I was a six when I entered the hospital and by 7:00 am I was an 8. I was not progressing so we chose to break my water at noon. I digressed back to a six. That was a good laugh. I wasn't worried. We just worked back up to a 9.5. Sixteen hours of labor and my body was exhausted. Rather than get an epidural, I went into the most relaxed state I had ever been in during the process.
I pushed for 3 hours, well in the pushing stage. I kind of wish I felt like changing positions, but I was so comfortable and relaxed. It took me a good amount of time to figure out how to push and work with my body. The doctor had me feel his head and that did the trick. I recognized where all my energy needed to go.
When he came, he came. He didn't want to stop. It was so awesome! They placed him on my belly immediately, and I broke down. I first gave a sigh of relief. Then I started to cry with joy and happiness.
It was the most beautiful miracle I have ever seen in my life. The joy on Shawn's face was unforgettable. Our baby had come to us in the most peaceful of circumstances. Angels were assisting and the Spirit was present. Our little miracle has officially arrived!
